I am using Windows Phone 8 on Nokia 520 Windows 8, Metro, and Windows Phone app on PC When I go to desktop mode every time I connect the phone via USB, it beeps acknowledging connection and charge. However in desktop mode the phone is not recognized on the drive list on the left hand side. I went to Device Manager and it is there on the 'Portable Devices' item under 'Windows Phone'. The driver is there. I uninstalled it, reinstalled it (dates from 2006!!!!) and still nothing happens. Every time I unplug the phone the 'Portable Devices' item disappears from the list to reappear when I plug the phone again.
