Oct 17, 2012 - I have tried this on Windows 7 x64 and on a virtual Windows 8 x64. Windows 8 To Go could be installed on almost any USB drive with enough capacity. Only one is copied to system32 drivers and renamed to cfadisk.sys.

I was attempting to use WSL to run a bash installation script (RasPi Android) and came ran into issues finding my SD card. I tried manually changing the mouting point and then using the Hitachi Filter Driver method. I screwed up somewhere with Hitachi(system32/DRIVERS/cfadisk.sys is unsigned/unverified), as now I'm in a recovery mode boot loop. I can access the startup settings, however even if I disable driver signature enforcement it simply reboots to recovery mode, same with all safe modes, etc. I do not have access to another win10 computer at home, although there is a win8 computer.

I am on a Surface book running the anniversary update (unsure which build #) its the i5 model with a dGPU; if helpful. Error code is 0xc0000428. Problem file is listed above.

TL;DR Stuck in recovery boot loop, disabling driver signature enforcement doesn't work. Occured after Hitachi Filter Driver use & reboot.

Hi, In order for us to assist you with the recovery mode issue that you have on your computer. Kindly refer to the response of Likhitha V on this. This will provide you steps on how to perform Automatic repair on your computer. Let us know how it goes.

That link is useless, however I do appreciate the response. What did work however is spending 4 hours to realize surface book will not boot from an SDcard. (What a useless machine for $2500). So I had to go out and buy a usb, as I always manage to lose mine, spent the next 20 minutes after: creating a linux usb, booting to it, and finally deleting the cfadisk.sys file from system32. Fixed everything. Once I realized that win10 was the problem with everything in my life, I just trashed it completely; I'm now rich, married to a beautiful wife, and healthier than a 'designer' baby.

Here they are: The driver spfdisk The length of this thread and containing so many additions, some of them useful, makes it of difficult reading, and regarding its utility it would be nice to have something fresher and more compact. I am too dumb to do it. Edit I've found the new version of Spf2K3rE.exe, the spfdisk container; it has not exactly the same name now (Spf2K3vC.exe). For the driver, much more important, I can't even guess its name. On my searches I found that the initial post on this thread has been stolen ans republished without any reference on this forum page: Edited May 12, 2010 by Andrews. I followed the Stage 1 of the tutorial on the first post of this thread, step by step, completed with the links you provided and using first the Hitachi files, but it didn’t work.

I used Paragon for partitioning because Windows never recognises more than the first partition and wants to format anything else with the total size of the stick, but not even starting to do it and giving an error if tried, not being able to do it. I have Windows 7 and I wonder if someone has already tried partitioning with this OS, because everything I read until now is with XP only. Then, I tried with Anton Basov’s files, which you also mentioned, Same negative result. Then, I attempted with BootIt v1.07, but strangely the USB drive does not even show up on the app window and sees negative capacities for the hard disks!
